Somali president lauds security forces for their role to secure the city

Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has commended Somali forces for their roles in restoring peace and security.

“I commend the forces for their alertness, vigilance; Somali Security Forces are committed to degrading Al Shabaab and denying them space to operate,” lauded the president.

Mohamud singled out Security forces in Mogadishu for praise, saying their courage and dedication has enabled leaders of Mogadishu local government as well as the federal government to move freely.

“The security of the capital city has been improved. This led government leaders and Diplomats from international community to stay in the town. At this time 12 mid night we are at the headquarters of Mogadishu local government with diplomats from different countries, This shows how the security forces beefed up the security of the town” said president Hassan.

Somali government has been trying to secure the seaside city which witnessed several deadly attacks in the months.

Al-Shabaab fighters who wanted topple the internationally recognised Somali government have been attacking government institutions, hotels, and military bases.
