Somali president names 2016 Federal level Electoral Commission

Somali president Hassan Sheikh named today the country’s federal level electoral commission by presidential decree. Five current serving ministers and four regional states ministers top the list.  Interior and federalization minister Abdirhman Odowa, human rights and women minister Zahara Ali Samatar, Information minister Mohammed Abdi Hayer, Constitution minister Hussien Mahmoud Sheikh Husssien, scholars and regional states ministers make up the members of the commission.

The commission is tasked to prepare schedules, calendars and the facilities of this year’s general elections.
