Somali President Tours Examination Centres In Mogadishu

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has paid surprise visit to Yasin Osman primary and secondary which is one of the examination centres across Mogadishu.
HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has commended Somali Education Minister  for her commitment to set unitary national examination and making true the resurrection of National examination after two decades of hibernation due lack of competent government.
“It is good start; I hope that the ministry will handle the national examinations fully in future”
During his tour, The president met the supervisors and invigilators who were regulating the exam centres.
On 15th January this year, Somali government has unveiled a unitary national examination, 25 years after such exercise was nationally executed in the country. Hundreds of candidates streamed into examination centres across Mogadishu.
Similar exams took place at different centres in Hiraan, Mudug and Galgaduud, Middle Shabelle, Bay , Lower and Middle Jubba and Gedo regions.
The students were compelled to carry special student identification cards to ascertain their identity as to beef up the security of the centres.
The national examinations were earlier communicated by the minister of Education, Khadra Bashir and the successful start of the examination exercise is seen as a return to normalcy.

 

After the results are announced in the coming months, the students will receive recognized certificates by the ministry of education.
The security at the examination centres were tightened as contingent of security officers could be seen manning and combing the area.
Also present to maintain security at the centres were the AMISOM and the national army who barricaded the roads that lead to the examination centres.
