Somali traffic police bans on Makkah Al-Mukarrama road

Somali traffic police has imposed a ban on all trucks driving on main and busiest roads in Mogadishu Makka Al-Mukarrama to reduce accidents and ease out traffic in the city.
The commander of traffic police, Ali Hirsi Barre aka Ali Gaab said that the trucks and trailers are emerging challenges to the public and other private vehicles in the city.
“Starting from Gamal Abdel Nasser road alongside KM4, trucks or trailer are banned to use that highway” he said.
Meanwhile the spokesman of interior ministry Mohamed Yussuf called on traffic police to live the ban.
Maka al-mukarama Street which busiest road in the city is becomes the most dangerous street in Mogadishu as mechanically unfit vehicles use it daily and several fatal road accidents occurred that claimed many lives.
In Somalia, car accident often causes deaths and injuries in which are attributed to the drivers who do not have enough experiences in driving as well as the the unrepaired roads in some regions in Somalia regions.
