Somali Women Activists Meet Interior Minister to push more seats in Hirshebble

Somali National Women association leaders met Federal Interior minister Abdirhman Odawa in Jowhar on Monday to push more seats for women in the new Hirshebble state assembly.

The women leaders and the minister discussed elections, securing women’s quota both in the state and Federal level processes. However, women leaders specifically pressed the minister to insure that Hirshebble women quota in state assembly should be assured.

The minister acknowledged the concern of the women leaders and said he will address the issue as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Hirshebbele new assembly has elected interim speaker to chair the meetings of the assembly until permanent one is elected.

The speaker and State president is set to be elected before the 17.OCT.
