Storyline:National News

A Somali Parliament Member said the Federal Government must not take sides in the diplomatic crisis in the Middle East.

Professor Mohamed Omar Dalha said Somalia is highly expected to join only those countries that campaign for negotiations to be started between Saudi Arabia and Qatar and not to side with either country.

“Somali has excellent relationship with the two countries in terms of economic and human aspects as Arab League members. Qatar and Saudi Arabia developed political deadlock. Both wants to execute projects in Somalia and their efforts is conspicuous. They have their embassies here especially Qatari one is located in KM4 in the city central to take part closely in the challenges we face and our relationship is strong. Let us not be haste in this crisis. We have to be careful of both sides. Neutral is what is needed from us” said MP Dalha.

Both Saudi Arabia and Qatar countries have good relationship with Somalia and President Farmajo recently visited them.

Several Gulf States countries severed ties with Qatari government which they accuse of supporting and financing terrorist organizations which it denies completely.
