GOOBJOOG NEWS|DJIBOUTI:   Somalia and Kenya have agreed to restore diplomatic relations following a month of protests from Mogadishu against its neighbour, the Qatari news network Al-Jazeera reports.  Goobjoog News could not independently verify the report.

According to the news network owned by Qatari government which has a sway on the Farmaajo administration, Presidents Mohamed Farmaajo and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta resolved to end their disputes. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 38th IGAD Extraordinary Summit.

Al-Jazeera Arabic reported Sunday the meeting was delayed to give the two leaders time to resolve their disputes adding they ‘reached an agreement to restore diplomatic ties’.

There was however no indication of an agreement between the two leaders. Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdirizak only said a communique on the meeting would be released tomorrow (today).

The meeting between Kenyatta and Farmaajo was the first since Somalia expelled Kenya’s ambassador late November and went ahead to end diplomatic ties mid this month.
