Somalia, Saudi Arabia governments to deepen ties

GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: The Federal Government of Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have penned new agreements that will see the two nations deepen mutual relations.

Parliament Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor yesterday met with his Suadi counterpart Dr. Abdullahi bin Muhammad bin Ibrahi Alaa Sheikh in Riyadh where the two discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two parliaments in policy making and other fields for the benefit of citizens of the two countries.

Somali and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have enjoyed decades of diplomatic relations and economic cooperation specifically in the livestock and labour sectors.

The Saudi government consumes over 80% of Somalia’s livestock exports and attracts the bulk of Somali migrant workers which has had an immense influence in the traditional and social structure of the Somali people.
