GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: Somalia and Saudi Arabia have inked new bilateral agreements that will see the two countries strengthen cooperation in defense and military fields.

This was announced during a meeting between the Federal Government of Somali’s Defense Minister Abdikadir Mohamed Nur and his Saudi Arabia counterpart Khalid bin Salmaan bin Adulaziz in Riyadh, Siaudi Arabia.

The meeting which was also attended by officials from the Defence Ministries of both nations at the same time discussed various other sectors where the two brotherly nations will cooperate for the mutual benefit of its citizens.

The latest agreement comes after a similar deal where the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre last month signed a cooperation agreement with Somalia-based regional mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to provide support for the Emergency and Rescue Unit of the Somalian Health Ministry, which will benefit 821,250 people.

The agreement, which was signed at the headquarters of KSrelief in Riyadh by Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, aims to provide support for emergency departments in government-run hospitals in Somalia.

Following the agreement, 15 fully equipped state-of-the-art ambulances will be delivered to the Ministry of Health in Somalia.

The project also aims to speed up the response capacity and ability to rescue thousands in case of crisis, as well as improve the general performance of the Somalian government-run health sector.
