Somalia’s stablity is critical for regional peace and stability-Ethiopian PM

The stability of the Horn of African is dependent on Somalia’s stability, Ethiopian prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn has said.

Speaking during the inauguration of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, Desalegn pledged that his government will stand on Somalia’s side in the process to pacify Somalia.

“At this occasion, I would like to assure you (Somalia) that the people, the government of Ethiopia and myself will continue their efforts to stand by your side in your towards ensuring lasting peace and stability,” promised Desalegn during his speech at the inauguration ceremony.

Ethiopian prime minister wished that the election of Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo as president would make Somalia to bounce back on its own feet.

“The people Somalia have made history and set a great example to countries in conflict, to countries emerging out of conflicts, the continent and elsewhere,” said Desalegn.

After conclusion of the speech, Prime minister, Hailemariam Desalegn left the inauguration ceremony and boarded a plane for his country.

Representatives from 124 countries have attended the inauguration ceremony of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, according the organisers.

Ethiopia has troops who are part of African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) force and supporting Somali government to fight Al-Shabaab.
