#SomaliaElections2021: Dr. Hussein Dahir becomes 5th S.West senator

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAIDOA: Dr Hussein Mohamed Dahir has this evening been elected the fifth senator from South-West state closing the voting round for the first five seats.

Dr. Dahir got 71 votes while his rival Hassan Mohamed Nur garnered 7 votes only. Ten votes were invalidated.

The new senator-elect was born in Baidoa and went to Shalanbod Primary School in Lower Shabelle before graduating from Imamu Shafi’i Secondary School in Mogadishu. He graduated with a degree in general medicine from Banadir University and worked in Medina (Mogadishu) and Bay hospitals.

He became a director in the Ministry of Health in South West state in 2019. He replaces Senator Timiro Mohamed Ali who was elected in 2016 as one of the youngest lawmakers.

Dr. Dahir comes from the Yeeladle sub-clan of the Mirifle Clan.
