Somaliland president assesses rain cause damage, pays visit to injured people

The president of the breakaway Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Siilanyo has extended condolences to families who lost their loved ones as a result of heavy downpour in Hargeisa.

Two people killed after a perimeter wall  that they were sheltering from the heavy rains collapsed on them.

Siilaanyo visited Hargeisa Group Hospital where over 20 people are  receiving treatment for injuries they sustained during the heavy wind driven rains that pounded Hargeisa on Monday afternoon.

“I hereby extend my personal and that of my government my condolences to the families of the dead people, ” said Siilaanyo a briefing by medical personnel revealed that four bodies lay at the hospital mortuary following rain-related deaths.

Siilanyo was accompanied by Hargeisa mayor Abdirahman Soltelco, police commissioner Abdullahi Fadal Iman, presidency minister and other officials who also visited the patients.

The officials also toured various areas of Hargeisa the rains affected.
