Somaliland rebukes the federal gov’t of Somalia decision to expel UN SRSG

The Somaliland administration rebukes the federal government of Somalia decision to expel the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Somalia from the country

A press statement from Somaliland foreign ministry said that the decision of the federal government of Somalia does not concern Somaliland.

“The Republic of Somaliland considers the cooperation and support of the development issues between Somaliland and the UN and notifies the general secretary that the decision is not in their business, and Somaliland will fully collaborate with the UN and its members.” reads the statement.

Somaliland has congratulated the special representative to Somalia Nicholas Haysom for his role during his four months in office of peacemaking in Somalia and seeking a solution the conflict between Somalia and Somaliland.

Somaliland government believes that the decision against the special envoy to the United Nations is far beyond of explanation and will create for future consequences.

The federal government of Somalia has Tuesday evening issued a statement to kick out the newly appointed UN chief in the country Nicholas Haysom accusing him of violation of diplomatic rules on UN engagement with member states barely 24 hours after Haysom demanded explanations from the government over arrest of Mukhtar Robow and civilian killings ahead of the presidential polls in South West last month.
