Sports minister Mohamed Nuuh elected in HirShabelle in third time voting

Storyline:National News

Embattled Youth and Sports minister Mohamed Abdullahi Nuuh has been elected MP in HirShabelle in a third time election after the first two were nullified.

Nuuh got 43 votes out of the possible while his opponent Hinda Abdullahi Omar got only one vote. A total of 44 delegates participated in the election.

The third candidate Nasra Ahmed Ali pulled out of the race shortly before voting begun after she complained she did not have any knowledge of the delegates.

The election for this seat has been marred by violence and voter bribery in the past forcing the Federal Indirect Electoral Implementation Team and the Independent Dispute Resolution Mechanism to disqualify the candidates including Nuuh.

A new set of delegates was constituted in the second run but it was rejected by FIEIT forcing a third run.
