Stakeholders sign Middle Shabelle and Hiraan regions’ state formation process

Somali president has attended a well organized ceremony held in Somalia’s presidential palace, Villa Somalia.
The event was conclusion of the outcome of the meeting that was discussed when and where will the general meeting for the formation of Hiran and middle Shabelle regions will be in place.
The highest top ranking officials in the federal government, Ministers, lawmakers, traditional elders, the United Nations, IGAD and other officials from the International Community have today witnessed the signing of the agreement for formation of Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle Regional State.
The points agreed upon are:
1. formation of new regional state for Hiraan and Middle Shabelle region
2. The formation of new state should be attended by all clans from both Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
3. Reconciliation conference for people of the two regions should be held as to form inclusive regional state.
4. To establish technical committee for the upcoming state formation with 31 members within 14 days.
5. The state to-be-formed which will represent entire clans living in the two regions should fight against anti-peace groups in those regions and should restore peace and stability in the regions.
6. The process of state formation should be completed within 60 days and should facilitate by Federal Government of Somalia.
7. Somali federal government should be responsible for the implementation of the agreement.
8. The Formalities and responsibilities of the technical committee should be prepared by the Federal Government and the government should return that work to the signatories.
9. Whoever disrupts the state formation process should taken the appropriate action against him.
10. The agreement was jointly signed by governors of the two regions and 12 minister hailing from the two regions.
11. The signatories of this agreement have got nothing to do with how the power-sharing should be.
12. The signatories have signed in accordance with state formation for Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions.
