Stringent security operations paralysis transport service in Mogadishu

Storyline:National News

Federal government security officers tighten the lid harder on public operations to ensure safety in Mogadishu which has been going for the past couple of days.

The Special Forces locally known as the “Stabilizing Force” used to carry operations on private vehicles with the exclusion of public vehicles around the intersections of Mogadishu streets.

But since last Saturday the operation was included on the city residents which made all the vehicles on the city streets to undergo security check ups in uniform.

Some of the streets were by jammed by cars where they formed long queues waiting each for its turn to be attended to by the security officers.

Some Goobjoog News reporters went through the streets and enquired from the public on their feelings on the tight security check ups currently in progress.

People were content with the exercise though they complained of time wastage but they hinted to play their role for Mogadishu to be a secure place.

Some commented that before it used to takenearly 20 minutes to move around from one end of the city to the other but now it takes more than 50 minutes to cover the same distance.

The most hectic places that limit the usual smooth movement of traffic with heavy security operations are between Bakarah market and Dabka area, KM4 street via Taleeh intersection and Arwo street that leads to Taleeh fourways. Large population of pedestrians is seen walking to their destinations.

Some of the youth passengers were ordered to alight from the vehicles and uplifted their shirts to check if bombs are strapped around the waists and ladies undid their veils to reveal their true identities.

This recent move is an indication of the rigorous move on security operations in Mogadishu following an attack two days ago by Alshabab on Pizza House that at a rendezvous place for Somali youths.
