Third Turkey-African Business Forum opens in Istanbul

GOOBJOOG NEWS|ISTANBUL: The third edition of the Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum opened today in Istanbul, Turkey.

The forum’s first edition was held in 2016 and the second in 2018 while there was a virtual meeting in 2020 under the pandemic conditions. Somalia’s trade minister Khalifa Omar and Somalia’s ambassador to Turkey Jama Mohamed are representing Somalia in the two days forum.

Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum is organized under the theme “Deepening Turkey-Africa Partnership: Trade, Investment, Technology and Logistics”.

According to AU Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Industry and Mining of the African Union Commission Albert Muchanga, the ‘Forum provides us yet again with a golden opportunity to underscore the increasing socio-economic dynamism of Africa-Turkey Cooperation hinged on a “win-win” principle. Moreover, it demonstrates the emerging role of Africa as a dynamic player in the global business landscape.’

Muchanga added that choice of the theme is a clear recognition of the importance that the African Union attaches to the Africa-Turkey Cooperation working jointly in shaping an economically progressive future of the people of Africa and Turkey. Logistics goes hand in hand to trade and investment, and attaches great importance in the market competitiveness of countries. With the achievement of the Africa continental Free Trade Area and increasing global trade simultaneously requires constant progress in logistics including transport technologies so that the performance of logistics infrastructure becomes an essential requirement for foreign investors to operate efficiently.
