Three Al-Shabaab militants killed in own explosion after police chase

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISU: Three Al-Shabaab militants were killed after a tuk-tuk they were in exploded in a police chase in Mogadishu.

Banaadir Regional Police Command said the militants had attempted to seize a police checkpoint along General Da’ud Street in Hamar Jajab district but police responded in hot pursuit against them. The street connects Villa Somalia and the Port of Mogadishu.

Police said the tuk-tuk was filled with explosives the militants intended to use for an attack.

One civilian who was in the vicinity was injured, police said.
