Turkish air ambulance flies out about 20 victims of Ex-Control attack

About 20  victims from yesterday’s attack in ex-control were this afternoon airlifted to Turkey for further treatment as the number of those injured rises.

The Turkish military air ambulance which landed in Mogadishu at about 5.30 am local time brought in medical supplies and is set to fly those who could not be treated locally for specialised attention in Turkey.

According to newly released figures, the number of injured has risen to 149 while the dead remained at the same number of 78 as of Saturday evening.  Out of the injured, 111 were admitted while 33 were set for referrals.

The  Turkish government condemned the attack and pledged support for Somalia. Among the casualties were four Turkish engineers who were involved in the construction of the Mogadishu-Afgooye road.

“We strongly condemn and curse the terror attack perpetrated with a bomb-laden vehicle in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia today, claiming lives of many people including two Turkish citizens,”  a statement from the Turkish embassy  in Mogadishu read in part.

Meanwhile, the government has announced it would clear the  medical bills for all those  wh o were affected in yesterday’s attack. Prime Minister Hassan Khaire lead a  team to coordinate medical help to victims of the attack.
