US forces Monday killed two Al-Shabaab militants and injured three others in an airstrike in Mubarak location some 40km south west of the capital Mogadishu.

The US Africa Command (Africom) said Monday it neutralised the two during the Monday morning strike as it ramps up strikes against the militant group.

“In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike against al-Shabaab on the morning of March 19 near Mubaarak, Somalia, killing two terrorists, wounding three terrorists, and destroying one vehicle.”

The strike is the third this year following at least 34 such strikes in 2017.
