GOOBJOOG NEWS|BUULOBARDE: The United States Africa Command has confirmed carrying out an airstrike against Al-Shabaab in collaboration with the Federal Government of Somalia near Buulobarde, central Hiran region, on October 23.

In a press release Tuesday, AFRICOM said they struck Al-Shabab terrorists who were “attacking Somali National Army forces” near Buulobarde, about 218 kilometers north-northwest of Mogadishu.

“The initial assessment is that the strike killed two al-Shabaab terrorists and that no civilians were injured or killed,” AFRICOM said.

The statement by AFRICOM comes hours after the Somali government issued a similar press release stating that over 100 members of the terrorist group had been killed in Middle Shabelle in the last two days.

The U.S. Africa Command said it will continue to assess the results of the operation and will provide additional information as appropriate. However, the command did not disclose the specific details about the units involved and assets used in order to “ensure operations security”.
