UAE welcomes Prime Minister Roble’s apology

GOOBJOOG NEWS/ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has welcomed an apology from Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for the confiscation of funds by the Somali government in 2018 amounting to $9.6 million.

A statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the UAE government welcomes the decision made by Prime Minister Roble to apologize for the “pilferage of funds and aid provided by the state to support the Somali people upon their arrival at Mogadishu airport”.

The Ministry said that the Somali Prime Minister’s kind gesture not only reflects the existing bond between the two brotherly countries, but also an appreciation of the UAE’s continued support to the Horn of Africa Nation. 

The Foreign Affairs Ministry further reiterated the UAE’s commitment to reinforce the historical relations between the two countries and extend all possible assistance to achieve peace, stability and development in the Somali Republic.
