Storyline:National News

Mohammed Abdi Afey, UNHCR’s special envoy for Somalia’s refugee affairs agency, said they are demanding the Kenyan government to provide refugees asylum in its country.

Afay said “that refugees are considered to be heavily dependent on the countries they are in, but if they are given freedom of business, their economy part can be so much important for the country.”

“Refugees have to be part of the economic development in the countries they live on, so that they can play their role very well” said Ambassador Afey.

Afey said “if Kenya is providing full freedom trade to refugees in the country, they can bring many different kinds of changes and boost up the country’s economy.”

Many Somali refugees are internally displaced in Kenya; they have no opportunity to work and do free trading movement.
