US president hails the appointment of new Iraqi prime minister

Mr AbadiUS President Barack Obama has welcomed the appointment of Haider al-Abadi, Iraq’s new prime minister and described as a positive step towards development.

Obama, US president recommended Iraqi political leaders to together so as to go out of the difficult days.

Iraqi president on Monday nominated Mr. Abadi and asked him to form new government, but the former PM Nouri Maliki dismissed the nomination stating that Mr Abadi’s nomination was a “violation of the constitution”

Militants from the Islamic State (IS) group have made substantial gains in northern Iraq in recent months, forcing tens of thousands of people from religious minorities to flee their homes.

As well as the air strikes, the US has conducted air drops of essential supplies to Yazidi people stuck on a mountain range.
