Voting resumes in Puntland, exercise continues in Jubbaland and Galmudug

Voting continues today in Puntland, Jubbaland and Galmudug states with more MPs expected to be elected as deadlines come closer ahead of the Presidential vote November 30.

The exercise resumes today in Puntland after a one week break with the remaining 25 MPs expected to be elected. So far 12 MPs have been elected out of a total of 40. At least 7 MPs will be elected today.

Puntland State-level Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (SIEIT) deputy chairman Khalif Aw Ali said Thursday they expect to conclude the process in the second phase which has started today.

From Jubbaland, 26 MPs have so far been elected out of 40. Six MPs are expected to be elected today.

Delegates in Galmudug will also continue the election of MPs today in the capital Adado with six MPs set to be elected. Three MPs have been elected so far out of a total of 36.

A total of 51 MPs have so far been elected with 10 women securing the Lower House seats.
