Women take charge at Villa Somalia and Police in new changes

The new changes at Villa Somalia and the disciplined forces have seen women rise to positions traditionally occupied by women.

President Mohamed Farmaajo appointed toxicology expert and former MP Dr. Amina Sai’d Ali Chief of Staff at Villa Somalia making her the only female to occupy the position in the country’s history.

Dr. Ali who was appointed deputy chief of staff last June now replaces President Farmaajo’s close ally Fahad Yassin who now moves to intelligence headquarters as deputy director general.

Dr. Ali earned her doctorate in Bio Banking and Toxicology from Karolinska Institute in Sweden and later served as an MP during the tenure of the Transitional Federal Government which lasted between 2009 and 2012.

Also rising to a new post is brigadier general Zakia Hussein Ahmed who now becomes Deputy Police Commissioner. General Ahmed was also elevated to a brigadier general from a colonel in the new changes announced today which also affected the intelligence agency NISA.
